Meet newly appointed VP of Development & Mission Advancement at Trinity Missions, John T. Butler.
“Existing for others” is the heart of who we are and our charism as a Congregation of missionary priests and Brothers. Therefore, we are pleased to announce the appointment of John T. Butler as VP of Development & Mission Advancement for Trinity Missions. As you will learn, John, with his keen sense of service and duty to others, especially the poor, will have a lasting impact on the future of our community’s continued good works and service to those most in need.
John comes to Trinity Missions with extensive leadership and fundraising experience. Most recently, John served as the Secretary for Development for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., where he led the philanthropic and fundraising efforts to advance the evangelization, pastoral and charitable works of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington.
His call to serve, however, began long before that. He attributes it to a strong foundation of faith fostered in him by his parents, parish clergy, and Catholic school educators. John fondly remembers the Archdiocesan priests and Benedictine Sisters who taught and helped form him spiritually from fifth grade through high school as playing critical roles in reinforcing what his parents taught him. “We are all called to be good stewards of the gifts we have been given,” he shares, “I learned very early in life that my time, talent, and treasure are special gifts that have been given to me, not for my own edification, but rather for service to others and for building up the community of the faithful.”
Both professionally and personally, John has let his faith be his guide. It has always been his plan to “pay forward” the blessings and assistance he was fortunate to have received as a result of the faith and generosity of others. He experienced it as a Catholic school student himself and later witnessed it as the president of Archbishop Carroll High School. Every day, parents, grandparents, clergy, religious, and benefactors extended themselves to ensure that children and families received the support they needed. Inspired by these examples, John has spent much of his career working to help build a brighter future for those in need.
President & General Custodian, Father Mike Barth, S.T., and the entire Trinity Missions community invite friends and benefactors to welcome John in his new role. Father Mike offers, “Trinity Missions is overjoyed to have John at the helm leading its development and Mission Advancement efforts. Along with his experience in fundraising, John brings expertise in organizational development and community engagement — both of which will be tremendous assets in his new role. Father Mike further points out that “these are exciting times for Trinity Missions! John’s considerable skills, energy and many gifts will be put to great use in leading our mission advancement and future growth.”
As he embarks on this new journey and immerses himself in Trinity Missions’ good works and future endeavors, John is eager to meet many of you, our benefactors and extended Trinity Missions family, to thank you personally for your generous support and kindness. Anyone wishing to speak to John personally can reach him at 240-235-6833 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
